Strategic Research Award

The American Sleep Medicine Foundation (ASMF) is pleased to announce the Strategic Research Award for the 2010 grant cycle. Postdoctoral Fellows (physicians or PhDs) and junior faculty (below the rank of Associate Professor) who are members of the AASM in good standing are eligible to apply. Through this award, the ASMF has identified two areas of research:

  1. Promising novel therapeutic and diagnostic tools in sleep medicine
  2. Improvements in quality of healthcare delivery in sleep medicine (e.g. comparison of outcomes management tools).

The ASMF will award up to two (2) one-year grants in the amount of $75,000 each to chosen candidates. The award recipients will be recognized at SLEEP 2010.

A grant review committee will be appointed by the ASMF Executive Board to evaluate the proposals. The applications from both focus areas will be reviewed together. There is no pre-set allocation of awards to either focus area. Factors that will be taken into consideration include the presence of resources necessary to complete the study (including commitment of the institution), soundness and feasibility of the research plan, and the relationship between the funds provided and expected outcomes. Host institutions that received funding for the Strategic Research Award in the 2009 grant cycle are not eligible to apply.

Click here to download the application. Candidates must complete the application process before January 15, 2010. The final decision of the Strategic Research awardees will be made by April 1, 2010.
